Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Data Center Technical Operations Engineer to join their team in Sydney, NSW, Australia. As a key member of the data center engineering operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of critical infrastructure within an Amazon Data Center.

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our data center engineering operations team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, with experience in maintaining and operating complex data centers. You will be responsible for managing vendors, sub-contractors, and contractors, as well as developing performance benchmarks and conducting analyses to optimize facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern to ensure seamless operations
  • Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure work is performed in accordance with established practices and procedures
  • Develop and implement performance benchmarks to optimize facility operations
  • Generate Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets for events managed by DCEO
  • Work with DC managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency
  • Establish documentation relevant to business and facility operations
  • Install racks and provide power/cooling within constraints
  • Review routine maintenance and emergency services for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, commissioning, and building out new facilities
  • Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability
  • Manage Facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management
  • Attend and participate in regular Construction and Operational Meetings as required
  • Familiar with Work Order compliance to ensure contractual SLAs are achieved
  • Interface with Infra Ops management for day-to-day operational requirements
  • Assist in recruiting efforts
  • Assist in resolving infrastructure engineering or services issues

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining a data center or critical space facility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong Facilities Management skills
  • Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Familiarity with Service Management systems (Problem & Change)
  • Experience with developing MOPs & SWMS for planned works
  • Physical Security protocol awareness
  • Computer literacy with Office Suite
