Role Overview
As the Business Assurance & Controls Team Lead within our Customer Engagement Assurance division, you will be instrumental in delivering Line 1 Risk support tailored to the Customer Engagement Portfolio. This position entails assisting in and contributing to specific business risk evaluations, managing risk-related changes, designing controls, and providing general assurance guidance.
In your capacity as the Team Lead, you will oversee extensive and intricate Assurance initiatives linked to the risk profile of the Customer Engagement team. This includes leading Operational Risk Assessments, managing Obligations, Control Governance, and deriving Risk Insights. You will also actively promote enhancements in Risk capability, culture, and awareness, establishing Operational Risk Management as a fundamental competency.
Key Responsibilities
- Directing the Customer Engagement Assurance Team, which includes managing team performance, setting objectives, and distributing responsibilities effectively.
- Facilitating and engaging in Risk Management Forums (RMFs) and preparing specialized content.
- Conducting and supporting regulatory control attestations and other required attestation activities.
- Providing compliance support and assisting in control design.
- Helping the business implement outcomes from thematic reviews and addressing issues identified through trend analysis and audit support.
- Coordinating responses during internal Audit reviews that span multiple portfolios.
- Ensuring the completeness and quality of risk data.
- Assisting the business in evaluating their risk profiles and control environments.
- Overseeing and aiding the business with risk treatment plans and regular risk reviews.
- Providing advisory support on change risk impacts and assessments.
- Collaborating with the business to enhance risk awareness and capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should ideally possess:
- The ability to lead high-performing teams in dynamic environments.
- Strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders.
- Analytical capabilities to assess risk and control data from various sources.
- Experience within the Operational Risk Framework and knowledge of the Operational Risk Management Process.
- Familiarity with external regulatory bodies relevant to compliance obligations.
- A proven track record of identifying practical solutions for risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of risk and compliance regulations and frameworks.
- Experience in designing and managing controls across the organization.
- A desire to understand customer interactions and the integration of risk management into daily operations.
- The ability to innovate and challenge existing processes.
- Experience in risk management or auditing, particularly within the banking and finance sector.
