We're seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at our Head Office in Sydney. The Financial Controller will be responsible for all operational activities across Financial Reporting, Collections & Revenue, Tax related governance and compliance, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. This role will work closely with business stakeholders to improve internal controls and enhance operational efficiency with systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the efficient operations of the Revenue function, ensuring timely collection of payments from customers.
- Partner with business support teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of billing.
- Develop and implement high-quality invoicing and collection procedures that comply with all relevant legislation and drive a high standard of customer service.
- Drive system transformation initiatives and continuous improvement of all processes and procedures.
- Partner with key business Executives to proactively manage outstanding debtors.
- Prepare timely and accurate reporting and forecasting to a variety of key stakeholder groups as agreed, providing key insights for decision making.
- Identify areas of focus for improvement through monthly analysis of performance data and reporting.
- Ensure compliance for the Australian tax consolidated group and liaise with external tax advisors.
- Support key projects and initiatives designed to identify opportunities to minimize business-related tax implications, or avenues to gain tax relief from government-related initiatives.
- Manage Federal or State Revenue Authority reviews or audits.
- Implement and maintain tax governance framework and internal reporting controls & procedures.
- Monitor changes to legislation or any emerging risks and advise the Group on the potential impact.
- Improve tax systems and reporting.
- Provide tax planning and tax effect accounting expertise.
- Professional undergraduate qualifications along with further professional development such as FTA/CFA/Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance/CA/CPA.
- Infrastructure or waste management industry experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including Excel and PowerPoint skills to prepare high-quality reports and presentations that convey a clear and concise message.
- Knowledge of Acts, regulations and professional practices relating to financial accounting and management.
- Solid knowledge of accounting and financial concepts and knowledge.
- Ability to effectively apply knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software principles and packages.
