Ecologist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Ecologist to lead and coordinate research into ecosystem monitoring for conservation areas across diverse land tenures in Australia.

About the Role:

  • Lead and coordinate research into ecosystem monitoring and risk assessment for conservation areas.
  • Design and implement monitoring projects, coordinate data management and analysis, and collaborate with other researchers.
  • Conduct research in ecosystem monitoring and risk analysis, and develop your research expertise relevant to your field.
  • Support research by postgraduates and collaborate with other researchers in ecosystem monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Supervise casual field staff and report to the Project Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

B-Level Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate ecosystem monitoring and risk assessment for the Tracking ecosystems Project.
  • Implement the Ecological Health and Monitoring Framework for state-managed Protected Areas.
  • Coordinate research in the Tracking Ecosystems Project and contribute to contractual compliance for all research related documentation and procedures.
  • Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in ecosystem monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Mentor and guide students and colleagues in teaching and supervision.
  • Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels and outlets.
C-Level Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, oversee and coordinate research in the Tracking ecosystems Project.
  • Establish a personal research portfolio and develop independent research proposals.
  • Play a significant role in the leadership of research projects, including leading significant research proposals submitted to competitive funding bodies.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Ecology or a related field.
  • Proven experience in ecosystem monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
