Global Environmental Change Research Position

Seeking a highly skilled researcher to contribute to a project investigating the impacts of global environmental changes on coral reef systems.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Jody Webster and Associate Professor Tristan Salles from the Geocoastal Research Group, Marine Studies Institute, and the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney.
This international collaboration aims to investigate fossil reef systems from across the Indo-Pacific, including the recently drilled International Ocean Discovery Project (IODP) Expedition 389: Hawaiian Drowned Reefs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct high-quality research in relevant project areas
- Undertake data analysis, synthesis, and curation, and assist with overall project coordination
- Prepare publications relevant to project objectives
- Support occasional teaching activities and contribute to student supervision
- PhD in a relevant geoscience field
- Ability to conduct research and scholarly activities under limited supervision
- Expertise in geochemistry, carbonate sedimentology, paleoecology, paleoclimatology, numerical modeling, or geological data science
- Strong publication record in leading scientific journals and effective scientific communication
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Matlab, and strong interpersonal skills
