Optimising Medicine Use in Correctional Facilities

Job Overview

Clinical pharmacists play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines within correctional facilities.

  • They conduct clinical reviews of clients' charts, providing tailored advice to meet the unique needs of the correctional setting.
  • The pharmacy team manages and distributes medications dispensed by contracted pharmacies, ensuring efficient medication delivery.
  • Additionally, they offer PRN medication dispensing services to cater to the diverse needs of patients.

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will work collaboratively with a small team to deliver high-quality patient care. You will be based primarily at the Holtze Correctional Precinct, approximately 25 minutes from Darwin CBD and 15 minutes from Palmerston CBD.

The clinic serves a population of around 2000 people, with about 700 on regular medications. Prison Health staff may also work at other correctional sites closer to the Darwin CBD as needed.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote safe and effective medicines management within our facilities.
