Sydney, New South Wales, Australia beBeeSeniorAnalyticsEngineer Full time $187,500 - $216,667

Job Overview

Canva is seeking a seasoned analytics professional to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data insights. As a key member of this team, you'll be responsible for building foundational analytics capabilities that empower non-technical users to get answers from data without requiring SQL expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust semantic layers that abstract complexity for business users, ensuring seamless access to critical data insights.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to automate performance reporting and connect experiments with goal metrics such as revenue, active users, and retention.
  • Design and implement scalable data models that translate raw data into business-friendly concepts for real-time and AI-assisted querying.
  • Modernize legacy dashboards by integrating AI-first approaches and help define the next generation of LLM-native reporting.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience working in large-scale data environments, preferably in cloud-native stacks (AWS preferred).
  • Strong SQL and data modelling expertise, with a proven track record of building complex semantic layers.
  • Experience working with modern MPP cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery, and a strong understanding of performance tuning and optimisation.
  • Familiarity with ELT data transformation and orchestration tools like Airflow and dbt.
  • Excitement about the potential of AI and LLMs in analytics, with either experience working on natural language interfaces or eagerness to do so.
  • A deep understanding of trade-offs in building semantic models for LLM interpretation and commitment to data quality, explainability, and accessibility.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Curiosity, self-direction, and passion for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in analytics and AI.

What We Offer:

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Canva, you'll enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package, including equity packages, inclusive parental leave policy, annual Vibe & Thrive allowance, flexible leave options, and more.
