About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Advocate to join our team at North Queensland Domestic Violence Resource Service (NQDVRS). As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to victim/survivors of domestic and family violence, working collaboratively with local agencies to deliver innovative responses to this complex issue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Trauma-Informed Crisis Response: Conduct risk and needs assessments, develop safety plans, and coordinate emergency accommodation and home safety upgrades.
  • Deliver Services Grounded in Feminist Analysis: Support clients in navigating court processes, obtaining protection orders, and accessing other essential services.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Stakeholders: Collaborate with colleagues and external organizations to ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Participate in Community Education and Awareness Activities: Contribute to community education, awareness, and advocacy efforts to promote social change and eliminate domestic and family violence.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require a tertiary qualification in a relevant human services discipline and/or a minimum of two years of professional experience in a related field. A deep understanding of First Nations cultures and the impact of intergenerational trauma is essential. Additionally, you will possess strong decision-making and case management skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex information sensitively and effectively.

  • Competitive Salary: Earn between $43.08 and $46.35 per hour under the SCHADS Award Level 4.1 classification.
  • Relocation Package: Receive up to $2,000 to support your relocation to Mount Isa, QLD.
