Youth Residential Care Specialist

Berry Street's Residential Care Program is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Residential Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people aged 10 to 17 who have experienced trauma, neglect, and abuse.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver High-Quality Therapeutic Care: Work collaboratively with our team to provide individualized support and care to young people, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Implement Best Practice Therapeutic Interventions: Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic programs and interventions to ensure the highest standard of care and child safety.
- Support Young People's Educational and Social Development: Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages young people to pursue their educational, social, and recreational interests, while promoting independence and self-esteem.
- Manage Household Duties and Provide Nutritious Meals: Ensure the smooth operation of our residential care homes, including managing household duties and providing healthy meals that cater to the dietary needs of our young people.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills, prioritizing the best interests of the young person and working effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong Communication and Active Listening: Possess strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and build trust with young people.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Display flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Creative Thinking and Non-Judgmental Approach: Bring a creative and non-judgmental approach to your work, with a commitment to understanding and supporting the unique needs of each young person.
- Driver's License and Transportation: Hold a valid driver's license (minimum green P's) and be willing to transport young people as required.
A minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or equivalent qualification is required. Berry Street is open to employing applicants committed to enrolling in a relevant qualification within three months of employment.
Applicants must complete the mandatory upskilling units as required by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Continuing employment is dependent on satisfactory evidence provided within 6 months of being engaged in the role.
