Speech Pathologist Job Description

The Senior Speech Pathologist plays a pivotal role in supporting individuals with communication disorders. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, from children to adults, and provide comprehensive support to help them overcome speech, language, and swallowing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Speech Therapy: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve speech clarity and articulation for clients with speech disorders.
  • Language Support: Provide language therapy to individuals who struggle to express themselves effectively, including those with reading and writing difficulties.
  • Augmentative Communication: Utilize devices and strategies to enhance communication for individuals with complex needs.
  • Social Skills Development: Help clients develop awareness of social interactions, body language, facial expressions, and voice tone.
  • Stuttering Management: Offer strategies to manage stuttering and promote smooth speech delivery.
  • Voice Quality Optimization: Provide exercises and guidance to optimize voice quality and prevent vocal strain.
  • Clinical Specialties: Work with clients across various conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental delays, Stammers, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual disabilities, and Cleft Palate.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Take on more complex cases and work with a diverse range of clients.
  • Complete AT assessments and reports independently for specialized areas.
  • Supervise students in clinic settings.
  • Mentor and supervise junior speech pathologists.
  • Participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) training and workshops.
