Regulated Underwriting Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Liability Underwriter in Brooklyn.

You will have the chance to work in a regulated environment under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime.

The ideal candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Achieve individual new business targets while maintaining strict adherence to underwriting authority and guidelines.
  • Grow and retain existing renewal portfolios, including administration of all renewals months allocated by the Underwriting Manager.
  • Review new business submissions, loss runs, conduct research and underwriting assessments to determine the degree of risk for each account and appropriate premium to charge.
  • Administer broker platforms, including quoting, renewal generation and mid-term alterations of new and existing policies.
  • Develop existing and grow new broker and authorised representative contacts through regular visitation, business development initiatives, conference and expo attendance and education/training.
  • Engage positively with internal stakeholders, including casualty counterparts within AXA XL group, claims, actuaries and middle office.
  • Develop and build upgrades of online portals, including requirements scoping, pricing and competitor analysis and user acceptance testing (UAT).

The successful candidate will report to the Underwriting Manager.

We are looking for someone who has the following abilities and skills:

  • Graduate certification is preferable and/or ANZIIF Diploma qualified.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the insurance sector working with Liability underwriting, SME, BDM and/or development underwriting roles.
  • Keen attention to detail and problem-solving ability, with a clear understanding of technical requirements.
  • Self-starter and comfortable taking ownership for own work, with ability to work independently and as part of a close team.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to present on a range of topics.
  • Eagerness to be involved in product and strategy development across the business.
  • Ability to travel as required by the business.
  • Desirable Skills - advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).
