About the RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to provide strategic advice to the MAJGEN on current and emerging issues relevant to the COD and the Defence enterprise. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising the MAJGEN and the COD executive leadership team and staff on matters relating to governance, risk, and public sector accountabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic guidance to the MAJGEN on key issues affecting the COD and Defence enterprise;
- Advise the MAJGEN and the COD executive leadership team and staff on governance, risk, and public sector accountabilities;
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to advance the COD strategic intent and business objectives;
- Maintain awareness of government priorities and deliver support through media enquiries, ministerial briefs, and cabinet submissions;
- Oversight and management of the COD office and support staff, ensuring diary management, travel, guest management, etc. are professionally delivered;
- Oversight of Human Resources, Governance, Information and Knowledge Management, and Work Health and Safety functions;
The COD is a blended workforce (APS, ADF, contractors) in excess of 1,000 personnel who support the Defence mission globally. As the Chief of Staff, you will work closely with the COD Executive team to help plan, administer, and facilitate organisational outcomes and priorities.
Our Ideal CandidateWe are looking for an enthusiastic, professional, and experienced candidate who is able to think strategically, set and prioritise busy workloads, identify risks and opportunities, and collaborate effectively in a Whole of Government setting. The successful candidate must have a high level of understanding of governance, risk, compliance, and ministerial acumen, as well as a sound understanding of the machinery of Government.
