Lead Planning Expert

Our organization seeks an experienced Planning Engineer to lead our planning team.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and be able to optimize mine plans to achieve business objectives in terms of production and cost. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, comparing and ranking multiple mining strategies with assistance from senior mine geologists and direction from the planning superintendent.
  • Producing and presenting full life-of-mine plans and schedules on a quarterly basis.
  • Communicating the life-of-mine plan to relevant personnel to foster awareness of future targets and directions for the mining operation.
  • Assisting in developing yearly mining budgets in accordance with timing set by corporate office.
  • Overseeing monthly and weekly mining schedules to ensure forecasts meet budget requirements.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Mining Engineer.
  • 10 years' experience in the mining industry.
  • Underground production and planning experience with mining technology and heavy production equipment in a mechanized hard-rock underground mine.
  • Strong understanding of various mining methods and detailed knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office application skills and competent in mine planning and design software packages such as Vulcan and Deswik.

Requirements:

  • Effective communication across all levels of the business.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the Underground Team to deliver monthly, quarterly and Life-of-Mine (LOM) forecasts and mining schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize mining processes and utilize new technology in the mining process.
