Highly Experienced Senior Police Lawyer Advocate Wanted

About this role:
This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and gain experience as a senior police lawyer - advocate in the courts and prosecution services division of Victoria.
We are seeking an experienced criminal law advocate with exceptional advocacy and written communication skills to join our team.
The successful applicant will have prior in-court advocacy experience and be able to manage competing priorities effectively, with a sound understanding of the Victorian criminal justice system.
The role involves preparation and appearance work in the Magistrates' and Children's Court jurisdictions, appearing in bail applications, providing legal advice, and supporting principal and senior advocates in managing complex cases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and appearing in court as a senior police lawyer
- Providing legal advice on a range of complex matters
- Supporting principal and senior advocates in managing complex cases
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to address community harm
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Admission to practice as an Australian Lawyer
- A comprehensive understanding of the law of evidence, bail, sentencing, and criminal procedure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A high level of resilience and emotional intelligence
- A current and valid Victorian Driver Licence (mandatory)
The role offers:
- One full-time fixed-term position available until 30/06/2027
- A salary range of $97,955 to $111,142, negotiable based on experience
- Locations: Melbourne and various regional courts
