Technical Specialists are required to support multiple teams in delivering cutting-edge capabilities. The Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems Branch is seeking motivated and experienced professionals who can provide expert advice and assurance control.

Working under the EL 1 Assurance Control and Technical Risk Manager, you will be part of the core Engineering and Logistics team ensuring proper governance and assurance of these advanced capabilities. This includes conducting audits to ensure quality outcomes are achieved, assessing and reporting on risks throughout.

The role involves supporting MIWS to attain accreditation as an Authorised Maritime Seaworthiness Delivery Organisation (AMSDO), and maintaining Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) status through:

- Developing audit schedules and criteria for specialist areas in engineering and logistics;
- Undertaking audits and reporting on their outcomes, including strengths and areas for corrective action;
- Supporting and maturing relevant AMSDO plans, procedures, and documentation;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Providing regular assurance reporting to senior leadership within MIWS and Navy.

Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels are critical to success. A technical background and ability to assess complex issues are valuable, as is an understanding of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System. Qualifications and experience in auditing, risk management, and/or assurance are highly desirable.

  • Understanding of legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks;
  • Proven experience in auditing, risk management, and/or assurance;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads.
