About the Role

  • We are seeking an experienced researcher to join our team as a Defence and National Security Fellow. As a key member of our research group, you will contribute to high-impact research within the Security & Resilience Hub (S&RHub) and the Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence and Aerospace Centre (SLWDAC).

The successful candidate will lead independent and collaborative research projects that significantly advance knowledge and are nationally recognised. You will develop and execute research aligned with the S&RHub and SLWDAC strategic focus areas, building and nurturing strong research networks within RMIT and with national and local partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading research projects and developing research proposals to secure funding;
  • Collaborating with researchers from various disciplines to drive innovation and advancements in defence and national security;
  • Developing and delivering educational programs tailored to both academic and industry needs;
  • Contributing to the development of new technologies and solutions that enhance national security and aerospace capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong track record of quality research outputs, experience in securing and managing research funding, and excellent interpersonal and communications skills. A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is mandatory, and Australian citizenship or eligibility for Security Clearances is preferred.
