Commercial Lease Officer

The Infrastructure and Operations Division is responsible for managing over $6B in infrastructure assets across various portfolios, including Transport, Stormwater, Open Space, Water, Wastewater, Waste, Cemeteries, Coastal, Buildings, and Facilities. The management of these assets requires a large capital renewals program, comprising hundreds of projects annually. In addition, the growth of the city drives the need for new infrastructure or upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a database of council-owned and controlled leased buildings and facilities, and licenses, including interests and orders over the land.
- Review tenure applications and coordinate their assessment with all stakeholders and advise, negotiate, and coordinate prospective tenures.
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor lease and license agreements to ensure compliance by both parties, and assess and arrange renewal of agreements.
- Effectively manage arrears in rent.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in Property or Real Estate, or extensive experience in Commercial Leasing within the Real Estate industry.
- A strong understanding of leases and the ability to interpret leases, licenses, and property documentation.
- A current 'C' class drivers' license.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and negotiate terms with key stakeholders and community groups and other professionals in the property management area. You will also have competent written communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence and documentation to a high standard, utilizing relevant computer packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
