Tunnel Operations Manager

**Role Overview:**

To plan, organise, lead and control site operations for compliance with the construction programme ensuring consistency in terms of safety, cost, time, quality, environmental, community targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Managing daily mechanical running, operation and maintenance of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and associated mechanical equipment
- Organising and planning work for future mechanical operations. Managing plan maintenance for all mechanical equipment on site
- Developing specifications for production and determining materials, equipment, material flows and layout of plant and systems
- Liaising with Mechanical Manager for all TBM, conveyor, gantry crane and associated equipment assembly/installation/dismantling, commissioning and testing works
- Carry out daily plant inspections, complete and submit maintenance/breakdown reports
- Liaising with TBM Electrical team for planning of ongoing and future works
- Supervise and provide support to Mechanics on shift, for trouble shooting and preventative maintenance
- Ensuring Method Statements and Risk assessments are in place for ongoing and future mechanical works
- Inspecting and auditing the plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained in accordance with Australian Standards
- Responsible for accurate and effective shift handovers as required;
- Key Qualifications and Skills required include:

- Trade or Qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering
- White Card
- Driving License

**Requirements:**

- Extensive experience in civil or tunnelling construction, typically 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in basic use of Microsoft Office Suite, data and file recording.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working on TBM projects
- Experience on major infrastructure construction operations of similar scale with a proven ability to operate in a dynamic environment and to meet significant program hurdles.
- Experience in Safety, Community and Environmental Management
- Experience in Quality Management
- Experience in Planning & Resourcing

**Competencies and Abilities:**

- In depth knowledge of TBM, conveyors and associated tunnel related equipment
- Sound knowledge of civil construction materials/service
- Sound knowledge of local WHS standards and regulations
- Ability to supervise team members, work closely with safety and other departments to control and maintain project safety standards
- Demonstrate a positive 'can-do' attitude.
- Ability to lead and manage teams
- Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills
- Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages.
- Good communication skill, both oral and written
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade background
