Lead Dairy Farming Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced dairy farming professional to lead our rural contracting business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a strong passion for dairy farming and wants to take on a leadership role in overseeing the daily activities of our dairy enterprise, including breeding, raising livestock, and ensuring the health and well-being of our animals.

  • Breeding and raising high-quality dairy cattle
  • Performing artificial insemination and verifying pregnancy confirmation
  • Drying off cows close to calving and assisting with calf removal from mothers
  • Overseeing regular herd health checks and working closely with our veterinarian to identify and address any health issues
  • Maintaining accurate records of animal treatments and withholding periods

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, preferably with a bachelor's degree or higher qualification, and at least 2 years of experience in dairy farming with a proven track record of managing staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Breeding and Livestock Raising: Developing and implementing effective breeding strategies to improve dairy cattle quality and productivity.
  • Herd Health Management: Working closely with our veterinarian to monitor animal health, prevent diseases, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Animal Welfare: Ensuring the overall health and well-being of our dairy animals through proper care, nutrition, and living conditions.
  • Record Keeping and Data Analysis: Maintaining accurate records of animal treatments, withholding periods, and other relevant data to inform decision-making and optimize operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in dairy farming with a proven track record of managing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of dairy cattle breeding, genetics, and nutrition.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
