Overview:
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a skilled Media Advisor to join its dynamic communications team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting the delivery of clear and engaging media content that promotes the Department's objectives and enhances its reputation.
About The Role:
This 12-month fixed-term position requires strong experience in media issues management, with the ability to prepare high-quality communications and respond effectively to media enquiries. Success in the position relies on excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, creativity in developing innovative communication strategies, and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Accountabilities:
As a Media Advisor, you will prepare high-quality media materials, including responses, releases, event briefs, and Q&A documents, ensuring they are accurate, clear, and delivered within tight deadlines. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of media relations projects and initiatives, while supporting communication strategies across key Departmental business areas.
Requirements:
An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, communications, or a similar discipline. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders are essential, as is creativity in developing fresh and effective media approaches.
