Position Title: Welfare Head Teacher

Location: Central & North Coasts

Number of Positions: 1

Total Remuneration Package: Valued at $145,000, including a base salary of $130,094.00, plus leave loading and employer's superannuation contributions.

School Overview: The institution is a comprehensive high school serving students from Years 7 to 12, with an enrolment of 955 students, including a significant number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, as well as support students. Our dedicated staff of 80 professionals is committed to empowering each student to reach their personal best across academic, leadership, and community service domains. The school is recognized for its strong traditions in academics, creative and performing arts, STEM education, and inclusive support for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, implement, and assess strategic initiatives and policies that enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes for a diverse student body.
  • Exhibit high-level organizational skills and effectively manage a large wellbeing team to address the needs of complex students.
  • Collaborate closely with external agencies, staff, parents, and the community to support and manage students with varied wellbeing needs, particularly during crises.
  • Work collaboratively as a key member of the school executive to drive initiatives that foster school improvement.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated successful teaching experience with a focus on enhancing teaching and learning practices.
  2. In-depth knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare, with the ability to design inclusive teaching programs.
  3. Leadership skills to develop capacity and manage performance within teams.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Ability to effectively plan and manage resources to support educational outcomes.
  6. Commitment to the Department's policies on Aboriginal education.

Conditions: An unconditional full approval to teach is required for this position. Candidates without full approval must obtain it concurrently with their application.
