**Position Information**:
Francis Greenway High School is an inclusive comprehensive secondary school with a Support Unit. The student population continues to grow with a current enrolment of 750 students. 5% of students have a background where English is an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) and 19% identify as having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.

Students participate in a wide range of learning experiences focusing on reflective learning and feedback in the pursuit of academic improvement and excellence. Students engage in a variety of extracurricular activities in sport, science, culture, the arts, drama, music and leadership. The student body are represented in decision making processes across the school through both the Student Voice Team and the Junior Aboriginal Consultative Group. A focus is on the implementation of the High Potential and Gifted Education policy. The four domains have a team of staff who work with students to provide extra curricular opportunities and support them in reaching their full potential.

The school works in collaboration with the Maitland Aboriginal Education Consultative Group in the provision of learning and cultural opportunities for our students. The Junior AECG will play a pivotal role in Turning Policy into Action as part of their authentic student voice.

The school values the support of its community. We have fostered strong partnerships with universities, cultural institutions, business and community groups. We aim to deepen the engagement of our community as partners in learning and school decision making. Our Parent and Citizens body is a highly supportive group involved in the decision-making process and the operation of our school canteen.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach Science, 7-12, with ability to lead the development of innovative teaching and learning programs and practices considering the new curriculum, to cater for the diversity of students at Francis Greenway High School.
- Demonstrated leadership and team building capacity with a focus on professional learning and individualised coaching to improve teacher performance.
- Ability to lead the development of innovative teaching and learning programs and practices considering the new curriculum, to cater for the diversity of students at Francis Greenway High School.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
