Animal Care Specialist Job Summary
As an animal care specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of laboratory mice.
Your role is vital in contributing to medical research by providing high-quality care and maintaining animals in a healthy state.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide daily care to maintain animals in a healthy state, including feeding, watering, and cage cleaning.
- Monitor animal health and welfare, checking for pregnancy and litters born.
- Prepare mice for transport to facilities across Australia.
- Set up breeding pairs under the guidance of senior staff.
- Collect samples for genotyping and health monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records using our online Animal Management System.
- Commitment to animal welfare and care.
- Strong observational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliability, patience, trustworthiness, and adaptability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
