This exciting opportunity will see you join our team as a Principal Standards and Governance (Geotechnical) expert, responsible for providing governance of geotechnical engineering practices to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and effectively manage fall of ground risk.

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with a strong understanding of geotechnical risk management processes and controls. Your experience in managing a Geotechnical Engineering team and excellent leadership skills will be invaluable in this role.

In this challenging and rewarding position, you will assist Nickel West operations and site geotechnical engineers by:

  • Ensuring compliance with the Our Technical Standards - Geotechnical Standard
  • Providing leadership in the identification and management of geotechnical risk through effective governance of risk management processes and practices
  • Assisting sites with reviews and updates of site Ground Control Management Plans to ensure compliance to the Our Safety Requirements and the Geotechnical Standard
  • Documenting geotechnical design, operating and monitoring processes
  • Managing Geotechnical Review Boards and assisting site Geotechnical Engineers with other ground control related audits
  • Developing and maintaining geotechnical safety briefs, training packages and induction material
  • Participating in and/or leading technical investigations into site fall of ground events

You will positively influence business decisions through maintaining world-class geotechnical risk management and require focus on delivering value, clear decision-making skills, technical excellence and strong collaboration skills.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a Geotechnical Engineer in an operational setting in a range of mining methods and conditions
  • Experience in managing a Geotechnical Engineering team
  • Excellent understanding of geotechnical risk management processes and controls
