Executive Assistant to the CEO and Mayor

The role of Executive Assistant to the CEO and Mayor is a senior-level position that requires a highly skilled individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in executive administration and governance systems.

This strategic role involves working closely with the CEO and Mayor, providing high-level support and ensuring the smooth operation of the Office of the CEO. The successful candidate will also oversee and coordinate the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and lead the City's Executive Assistant cohort to deliver consistent, high-quality support across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-level, confidential support to the CEO and Mayor with professionalism and foresight.
  • Coordinate all aspects of ELT operations, including meetings, governance calendars, actions, and outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Executive Assistants, enhancing capability and ensuring consistent service excellence across the City.
  • Drive improvements to executive workflows, systems, and internal processes.
  • Act as a key liaison for internal and external stakeholders, including Councillors, government representatives, and community leaders.
Requirements
  • Proven experience supporting CEOs, Mayors, or senior executives in complex or political environments.
  • Exceptional communication, judgement, and leadership skills with a drive to get things done right.
  • A natural organiser with attention to detail and advanced Microsoft 365/SharePoint skills.
  • A trusted professional with a Diploma in Business Administration (or similar) and at least five years in a senior support role.
  • A high level of integrity, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
