Role Overview

We are seeking a Family Support Coordinator to help improve student attendance, behaviour and engagement.

About the Role

The Family Support Coordinator will work with children, families and carers, school staff, government agencies and community services to facilitate family-led decision making processes and ensure optimum outcomes for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to individual needs of children, families and carers to provide support in transitioning to school, establishing good patterns of attendance and behaviour, and maintaining engagement in learning.
  • Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect their families and carers with relevant services.
  • Support vulnerable children from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young persons with disability and young persons in care.
  • Effectively use data to identify, implement and assess the effectiveness of support measures provided and accessed by families in improving school attendance, engagement and educational achievement for students.
  • Maintain accurate records and information management activities in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures.
