Senior Manager Permanency Support Program

The role seeks an experienced Senior Manager to lead the new Permanency Support Program (PSP) team.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of case workers and engagement officers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who have come into statutory care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, support and monitor staff to promote permanency outcomes of children and young people in the PSP.
  • Ensure culturally appropriate and sensitive care is provided to Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Facilitate a permanency pathway for children and young people through Restoration, Guardianship, Open Adoption or Foster Care.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case files that meet legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Lead and provide supervision to the team and organisational structure.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships with families and other community service providers.
  • Ensure absolute confidentiality in relation to clients and the operation of the service.

  • Good problem-solving, communication, listening, writing, and planning skills.

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualification in Social Welfare, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, preferably at degree level (working towards) or extensive experience working with vulnerable families.
  • Experience at a Senior Management Level.
  • A working understanding of the Child Protection, PSP and Adoption legislation and research that underpins permanency for children.
  • Experience working with children/young people, parents/carers and families with a high commitment to child-inclusive practice and best practice case work principles.
