Now, we're preparing to pioneer the next 50.     We are looking for an experienced Payment Industry Compliance Manager to join our Product Team.   The primary purpose of all 1st line Risk and Compliance Managers is to maintain and embed the payments industry compliance framework into the product to drive first line risk enablement at Cuscal across all of Products.  

The Payment Industry Compliance Manager is a 1st line role within our Product team to maintain and embed the compliance and related risk in change frameworks of Cuscal's participation in card and payment schemes (including Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, EFTPOS, UPI, ACCC(CDR) as well as any emerging payment and data schemes.  

Reporting to the Head of Payment Industry Compliance & Risk Enablement, the role ensures there is a positive risk and compliance culture where compliance with our obligations are understood and appropriately prioritised and managed within an agile environment. The key responsibilities of this role are: 

  • Ensure the Cuscal Compliance framework including Cuscal's risk and compliance system is updated and adhered to, including a current obligations register, waivers/exemptions register, breach and issues register, compliance calendars and monitoring plan. 

  • Support the product domains in relation to effective management of compliance risks and manage payment industry reporting and audit to ensure on time and accurate delivery 

  • Review scheme bulletins, mandates etc. and work with the Domain to assess impacts and ensure communication to stakeholders  

  • Build relationships with payment industry bodies and schemes; liaise with schemes to manage waivers, data integrity outcomes etc and ensure timely resolution of open actions 

  • Embed agile ways of working within the product domains to ensure understanding of scheme changes and compliance activities and work with the domains and squads to prioritise work so Cuscal meets required timelines  

  • Assist Domains and clients to raise and manage issues including internal escalation of potential scheme breaches and monitoring the status of business actions to resolve issues  

  • Manage the review of any non-compliance to examine root cause and identification of treatment actions  

  • Improve compliance maturity and management through key metrics, ensuring appropriate oversight of compliance items within the Domain backlog 

  • Perform Compliance reviews to ensure adherence to key obligations. This includes interaction with our Auditors as well as oversight of our clients.  

  • Coordinate the annual attestation from clients and other independent reviews.  

  • Assist in the identification and assessment of industry and regulatory changes.  

  • Maintain documentation of key compliance processes and review existing processes to ensure they are meeting best practice.

  • Extensive compliance or regulatory experience in the financial services industry; experience in scheme compliance specific roles highly regarded  

  • A sound understanding of Compliance principles, structures and processes within an agile environment.  

  • Proven evidence of strong relationship management, presentation, negotiation skills and the ability to positively influence. 

  • Ability to demonstrate, analyse and readily interpret business and technical operations impacts and needs of internal and external stakeholders and clients.  

  • Experience in managing compliance changes and initiatives including supporting delivery and delivered risks through risk in change build and maintenance.
