Australia-based Compliance Manager role available to shape global compliance capabilities and enable safe cross-border transactions in emerging markets. As part of Thunes' Fortress Compliance vision, you will contribute to a company that values bold thinking, integrity, and collaboration with impact on millions of transactions.

This senior payments compliance role reports to the APAC Compliance Director based out of Hong Kong and represents the Thunes Compliance function in Australia. The ideal candidate will have previously held senior compliance roles in Australia within the financial institution or banking sector.

The main responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate reporting to ASIC and AUSTRAC, localising and deploying Thunes' Group Compliance frameworks into Australia, applying existing frameworks to onboarding and ongoing monitoring, providing risk analysis on clients, and identifying regulatory risks throughout Thunes' business.

This Compliance Manager will also serve as Point of Contact for AUSTRAC and ASIC, maintain status of responsible manager for AFSL licence and AUSTRAC registration if required, interact with Senior Management, partner banks, and government authorities, contribute to Australian policy management, and coordinate remediation of audit findings.

The successful candidate will have 7 to 10 years of professional experience in Compliance in a financial institution, preferably in banking or payments in Australia, deep knowledge of the Australian payment services regulation and AML/TF local framework, and expertise in compliance areas within a financially regulated company (AML/TF, Risk & Permanent Control, Governance).

Key skills and competencies include ability to satisfy ASIC's organisational competence requirements, knowledge of deployment of a compliance programme (KYC, sanctions & PEP screening, AML/CFT alerts management), excellent written and verbal English communication, high autonomy and proactivity with ability to collaborate across time zones, and ability to work well under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines.
