Job Description

Underwriter 

Aon are seeking an experienced Liability Underwriter to join our One Underwriting team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting and analysing hospitality insurance risks in accordance with binder guidelines, as well as managing and developing relationships with brokers and clients. This role requires strong underwriting skills and knowledge of the general Liability insurance market in Australia. We will also consider high quality candidates that may not have Liability Underwriting experience but good insurance experience, looking to make a transition.

This is a hybrid role where you can work from home and the office.

What the day will look like

• Assess and underwrite hospitality liability risks in accordance within a binder agreement/underwriting guidelines

• Manage and develop strong relationships with brokers, clients and colleagues

• Underwriting and managing the renewal and new business process including referrals as required

• Maintain renewal and new business strike rate registers 

• Analyse basic underwriting data and create reports as required by the team 

• Processing of new business, renewals, and endorsements 

• Debtor management 

• Manage claims history requests and renewal process 

• Provide training, coaching and mentorship to junior members of the team 

• Identify potential risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them

• Develop and maintain knowledge of the liability insurance market in Australia

Skills and experience that will lead to success

We are looking for someone with a foundation of general insurance experience in a broking / underwriting / similar position. You will also have.

• Experience in property/liability underwriting

• Good technical knowledge of property/liability insurance and related regulations in Australia

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and senior management

• Ability to identify potential risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them

• Sense of entrepreneurship and drive to succeed
