We are seeking a qualified and motivated Solicitor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a client‑focused approach. You will be responsible for providing legal advice, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in various legal matters.

Task & responsibilities

- Meet with clients, gather instructions, and understand their objectives, constraints, and background.

- Provide legal advice, solutions, and recommendations within areas of competence (e.g. conveyancing, wills, small business law) in clear, client‑friendly terms.

- Communicate with external parties such as other lawyers, real‑estate agents, banks, and government agencies on behalf of clients.

- Draft legal documents including contracts, leases, wills, powers of attorney, affidavits, and agreements.

- Review, revise, and proofread documents prepared by others or external parties to ensure legal accuracy, coherence, and compliance.

- Format and prepare submissions, letters, correspondence, and legal notices.

- Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and regulations relevant to client matters.

- Prepare research memoranda or briefings summarising legal principles, risks, and options for supervising solicitors or clients.

- Perform due diligence or background investigations such as title searches, corporate searches, and property encumbrance checks.

- Maintain and update client files, manage task lists, track deadlines, and monitor progress.

- Prepare internal briefs or progress reports for supervising solicitors or management.

- Ensure compliance with firm procedures, conflict checks, records management, confidentiality, and regulatory obligations.

- Assist in preparing court documents, affidavits, pleadings, and litigation materials (if applicable).

- Liaise with court registries, file lodgements, serve documents, and follow up on procedural steps.

- Assist in preparing client invoices, fee estimates, and cost proposals.

- Follow up on client payments, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable tasks.

- Attend continuing professional development sessions and stay updated on legislative and procedural changes.

- Adhere to professional conduct rules, confidentiality requirements, conflict‑of‑interest policies, and ethical standards.

- Assist with internal audits, compliance reviews, trust accounting checks, and quality assurance activities.

- Collaborate with other staff on shared or complex matters.

- Participate in firm initiatives, strategy discussions, client development, and community engagement activities.

Qualification & experience

- Law Qualification from a Recognised Institution

- Strong research and writing skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong organisational and time management skills
