2.0 Job Summary
- 2.1 a. Responsible for the 24 hour management, administrative functions and monitoring of practice to ensure effective and efficient operation of the assigned area according to policy and procedures.
- b. Demonstrate effective leadership and management skills in ensuring the delivery of patient and family centered care.
- c. Support the professional and personal development of all nursing staff and works as an effective member of the caring team.
- d. Assesses, plans, implement, evaluates and monitors standards of care.
- e. Act on behalf of or in the absence of the Clinical Director.
3.0 Duties And Responsibilities
- 3.1 Leadership and Management
- 3.2 Uphold philosophy, mission, vision, goals and objectives of the Executive Nursing Affairs and PSMMC.
- 3.3 Utilize efficient management of human and material resources within the assigned area.
- Use and storage of all equipment and supplies.
- Periodic Preventive Maintenance (PPM).
- Staff rotation, schedules and leave allocation.
- Follow-up of staff valid requirements for re-contracting to help speed up with lacking steps.
- 3.4 Ensure that standards of care, policies and procedures are effectively and safely practiced.
- 3.5 Adeptly manage the information of patients, staff and hospital records.
- 3.6 Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, promotion and retention of staff.
- 3.7 Support Saudization Nursing Development Program (SNDP).
- 3.8 Support and guides pull-out staff allocated to the area.
- 3.9 Raise the morale of the nursing team by Recognize and value contributions from the individual within the ward and provides clinical support.
- 3.10 Participate in direct patient care working as a team member and promote highest standards of evidence-Based practice.
- 3.11 Ensure patients and staff confidentiality.
- 3.12 Facilitate in ordering, following, receiving and distribution of supplies and collaboration in inventories.
- 3.13 Actively participate in Nursing and PSMMC-Wide committees.
- 3.14 Observe and respect patients, Bill of Rights and responsibilities.
- 3.15 Maintain effective line of communications within the department and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- 3.16 Establish partnership, facilitating team building and works collaboratively with other health team member.
- 3.17 Conduct regular departmental meetings.
- 3.18 Responsible for updating requirements and documents as required periodically such as expiration of Saudi Council Registration.
- 3.19 Utilize conflict management strategies to address issues and concerns in the area.
- 3.21 Promote staff development through education and training based on identified needs.
- 3.22 Practice culture of safety.
- 3.23 Provide health education to patients, relatives and care givers.
- 3.24 Assume responsibility with the scope of practice.
- 3.25 Education
- 3.26 Participate in the development, revision and implementation of unit based competencies in the assigned area.
- 3.27 Quality Improvement
- 3.28 Lead in performance improvement activities and utilize data to develop action for improvement, evaluation and document of outcomes.
- 3.29 Perform other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of the employees, knowledge, skills and abilities.
4.0 Education / Licensure
- 4.1 Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from accredited school.
- 4.2 Essential: Current License of practice from country of origin with current Saudi Council Registration as Specialist.
- 4.3 Desirable: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing or related field.
- 4.4 Desirable: Current License of practice from country of origin with current Saudi Council Registration as a Senior Specialist.
5.0 Professional Experience
- 5.1 Essential: For Bachelors Degree holder: Minimum of five (5) years post.
- Essential: Registration experience, at least two (2) years, must be spent in the relevant area of specialty.
- For Master,s Degree holder: Two (2) years, experience.
- 5.2 Essential: Broad clinical experience or post basic certificate in area of responsibility.
6.0 Specialized Knowledge
- 6.1 Essential: High standards of leadership and management skills.
- 6.2 Essential: Excellent written, spoken and comprehension in English.
- 6.3 Essential: Computer literate.
7.0 Personal Qualities
- 7.1 Essential: Strong motivation and commitment towards excellence in healthcare and professional development.
- 7.2 Essential: Ability to develop effective partnerships, facilitating team building and working collaboratively towards common goals.
