Overview

Greencross Vets are coming to St Kilda We're excited to announce a brand-new clinic opening in the heart of St Kilda, and we're on the lookout for a Head Vet Nurse who is ready to lead with heart when we open our doors later this year. The standalone clinic is centrally located, just off Acland Street and close to the dog park. It's also a short walk from our St Kilda Petbarn team who will be directing customers your way. Enjoy a brand new, modern, well-equipped space with on-site parking. Leadership mentoring, CE programs, and opportunities to expand your skills and pursue your professional interests are available. There is also the option to start in a neighbouring Greencross clinic prior to St Kilda's opening.

As Head Nurse, you will be a steady, dependable presence who is always thinking one step ahead, exceptionally organised with a proactive mindset, a natural problem solver who is great with people and animals alike.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a team of Vet Nurses and supporting busy Vets
  • Guiding and developing the Nurse team, building a positive team culture
  • Undertaking general nursing tasks, including team-based consulting, pathology, surgical nursing, administration duties and emergency and critical care
  • Taking initiative to enhance clinic operations and efficiency
  • Collaborating with the veterinary team to ensure high standards of patient care
  • Handling client enquiries professionally in person, by email and over the phone
  • Managing stock inventory to enable high quality of patient care
  • Organising maintenance and repairs of equipment in conjunction with the practice manager
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a Cert IV qualification in Veterinary Nursing with minimum of 3+ years of experience
  • Possesses strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Experience coaching and mentoring Vet Nurses
  • Strong knowledge of surgical nursing techniques and procedures
  • Calm, friendly, empathetic, and mature
  • Great communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of RX Works ideal but not essential
