Varun Tanya Group Pty Ltd T/as Café 63 Graceville is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our busy and friendly team. We are a popular café known for our vibrant atmosphere, high-quality meals, and excellent customer service.
Position: Full-time Chef
Location: Café 63 Graceville, Graceville QLD
Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
- Planning, preparing, and cooking high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
- Designing and developing menus and special dishes in line with café standards and seasonal availability.
- Ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control across all dishes.
- Supervising and coordinating kitchen staff during food preparation and service periods.
- Monitoring stock levels, recording inventory, and placing supplier orders to maintain adequate stock.
- Checking freshness and quality of ingredients and ensuring all food items are stored appropriately.
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and well-organised kitchen environment at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Managing food cost control, waste reduction, and portion management.
- Training and mentoring junior chefs, cooks, and kitchen hands.
- Collaborating with management to maintain efficient kitchen operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience as a Chef (post-qualification)
- Strong knowledge of modern Australian cuisine and café-style menu items
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and split shifts as required
