About the Role
Join our Research & Development team as a Research & Technology Engineer, reporting to the Research & Technology Manager. The purpose of this role is to promote technology innovation and early deployment of new technology into Daikin products, and to explore DAS residential solution opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
New Technology and Solution Development
- Conducting air conditioner stable and dynamic simulation, control logic optimization, and zone controller system integration, actively simulating refrigerant side, air side, and electrical side components.
- Developing simulation methods/tools for product development Proof of Concept (PoC) study and control logic verification.
- Building load forecast and energy usage strategy simulation and verification, including building energy modelling and global optimization strategy based on data acquisition and integration with other appliances.
- Verifying and improving simulation accuracy, reducing NPD testing time/iterations, and automating testing result analysis.
- Performing data analysis, failure prediction, comfort analysis, and customer claim analysis based on data and simulation.
Product Development Support
- Teaching and leading simulation tasks across product development teams and supporting technical decision-making with simulation verification.
- Applying engineering knowledge and experience to improve the process to design air conditioner systems and supporting the digitisation of the new product development process.
- Contributing to internal best practices and workflow methodologies to improve accuracy, reduce errors, and enhance knowledge transfer.
- Seeds development and simulation verification for new product ideas.
About You
We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with:
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in heat transfer, air conditioning, or similar.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience or fluid dynamics or thermal engineering–based post-graduate studies.
- Full working rights in Australia (permanent resident or citizenship).
- Good understanding of air conditioning components designs and selection.
- Experience with CFD (e.g., Star-CCM+, fluent, or similar).
- Experience with 3D modelling tools (e.g., Solidworks, ProE, NX, or similar).
- Experience with air conditioning simulation platforms (e.g., Dymola, Matlab/Simulink, Modelica, or similar).
- Experience with programming languages such as C, C#, VBA, or Python.
- Understanding of wind tunnel testing, air conditioner performance testing, and/or real-world measurements.
- Understanding of electrical system or control diagrams.
- Understanding of Australia Standards such as MEPS/NCC, and building rating systems.
