About the Role

Department: Marketing and Member Engagement

Location: VIC

Reports To: Marketing and Member Engagement Director

Employment Type: 1 x permanent full time

Diversity Council Australia is the independent, not-for-profit, peak body leading diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace. We provide unique research, inspiring events and programs, curated resources and expert advice across all diversity dimensions to a community of around 1300 member organisations.

Our purpose is to enable more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces for a better Australia.

Our vision is to create a just and equitable Australian society where people in all their diversity can thrive.

Our team is a diverse and passionate bunch of people. We believe strongly in DCA’s vision and purpose. Our shared set of values and continuous learning culture unites us as a team and sets the tone of our working environment.

At DCA, we aim to create an inclusive, supportive and equitable work environment. We do this by striving to make sure all our employees are connected to and respected by the organisation and their colleagues, that they are progressing in their own individual development and that their contributions to the organisation and our work are meaningful and valued. Finally, we encourage true flexibility and believe in a strengths-based approach to people’s work and goals.

DCA values lived experience as well as expertise, and we encourage applications from people with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, who have caring responsibilities, from culturally and racially marginalised groups, people with disability, people who experience ageism, LGBTQ+ people, and people who experience exclusion because of their social class.

We are looking for two passionate and strategic Member Engagement Managers to join our team, one in a permanent full time role and one in a 10 month fixed term full time contract (parental leave cover). Reporting to the Marketing and Member Engagement Director, work in a supportive hybrid working environment with access to a vibrant CBD co-working space in Melbourne. It’s an exciting time for DCA, and for diversity & inclusion (D&I) in Australia. We have experienced significant growth in our membership and presence, and we need passionate people to join our team.

This role will drive member retention and acquisition within an assigned geographic region, achieving growth targets, reducing churn, and building stronger connections with our member organisations.

If you’re someone who thrives on building relationships, spotting opportunities, and making an impact, this is your chance to shape the member experience and help DCA continue leading the way on diversity and inclusion.

In this role you will

- Deliver a comprehensive retention and acquisition strategy, achieving growth and retention KPI’s

- Build strong, tailored state based relationships with members—meeting regularly (virtually and in-person) to understand needs and provide value.

- Leverage DCA, products, events, webinars, and conferences to deepen engagement and attract new members.

- Oversee onboarding and ensure a seamless, inclusive new member experience.

- Analyse member feedback and trends to improve services and maintain satisfaction targets

- Partner with Communications, Research, Events, and Digital teams to align campaigns and deliver exceptional member experiences.

- Manage and refine CRM processes (Microsoft Dynamics 365) to ensure accurate, segmented data.

- Use a tailored, segmented approach to develop member communications and engagement initiatives that address diverse member needs and priorities

Selection Criteria

*This section might include criteria, but the brief remains the same.*

Skills Required

- 5+ years’ experience in account management, stakeholder engagement, membership or D&I practitioner roles

- Proven success in member retention, acquisition, and engagement strategies.

- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with a talent for tailoring engagement to diverse audiences.

- Proficiency with CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and marketing automation tools.

- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

- Passion for diversity and inclusion, and a willingness to learn and grow in this space.

Values Required

- Inclusion: You help us to create a diverse, equitable and safe workplace where everyone is respected and connected and able to develop and contribute at work.

- Growth Mindset: You are comfortable to continually learn, unlearn and relearn by being open to different perspectives, constructive feedback and evidence.

- Fortitude: You have bravery and stamina in our approach to navigate the discomfort and challenges that sometimes come with our work.

- Excellence: With the support of your colleagues and DCA leadership you deliver high quality, innovative and valued expertise and services that set the standard.

- Collaboration: You are comfortable working within a team to leverage each other's skills, expertise and lived experience to learn from each other and harness creativity through diversity.

If you don’t tick every box in the relevant experience or skills required section, please don’t rule yourself out. Research suggests that women and other people in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they meet every requirement. We focus on hiring people who share our values of Inclusion, Growth Mindset, Fortitude, Excellence and Collaboration, rather than ticking all the boxes – so if this role resonates with you, please apply.

Benefits Offered at DCA

- Salary sacrificing

- Increased Superannuation

- Truly hybrid environment with 1-2 days in the office

- Professional development opportunities and budget

- 12 weeks’ gender-neutral parental leave and flexi-leave options
