This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing January 2026 up until January 2027.

The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.

The School Curriculum and Standards Division is seeking a qualified, highly motivated and committed Principal Consultant - Secondary, Curriculum and Assessment specialist with skills, experience and knowledge across Years 7 to 10. In particular, candidates having experience and knowledge in The Arts curriculum, will be highly considered.

The Role

The Principal Consultant develops and reviews curriculum and assessment to support implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline. If successful, you will monitor and review the implementation and delivery of curriculum, courses and course standards, projects and programs.

Within this role you will organise, facilitate and coordinate information sessions for staff from schools, regions, professional associations and school systems/sector and conduct teacher seminars, as required. You will be expected to facilitate consultation and collaborative processes between the systems, sectors, schools and other stakeholder organisations to share ideas and devise common curriculum and assessment approaches.

Eligibility

- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.

- Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in undertaking consultation, stakeholder engagement, collaboration and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership.
