The Branch

The School Curriculum and Standards Division supports the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) by providing administrative and secretariat services and implementing its decisions. The Authority ensures quality curriculum, assessment, and standards to empower all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens. Within this framework, the Examinations, Certification, and Testing (ECT) Directorate delivers essential educational services and initiatives.

The ECT Directorate manages the logistics of ATAR course examinations, Externally Set Tasks (EST), and the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) across Western Australia. It oversees the design and analysis of literacy and numeracy assessments for OLNA and ensures data integrity through data collection, analysis and reporting. Additional responsibilities include developing online exam structures, evaluating educational measurement activities for Years 11 and 12, and ensuring data transfer between schools and the Authority. The Directorate supports reporting requirements and maintains strong stakeholder relationships with a diverse team of specialists in program analysis, systems, cyber security, and data management.
