About the team and role

The North West Hospital and Health Service (HHS) offers unique locations and supportive communities in regional, rural and remote settings with opportunities for career development and mentoring. Mount Isa is part of the North West region, offering an outback lifestyle and the chance to make a positive difference in patient care.

The Mount Isa Medical Ward is a 20-bed ward on Level 2 of Mount Isa Hospital that provides professional, safe and patient-centred care. The ward cares for a diverse range of conditions including cardiac, respiratory, endocrine, neurological and renal conditions and can provide palliative care services.

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) assists and supports the Registered Nurse (RN) in the provision of direct and indirect person-centred care and ward duties. The AIN is responsible for delivering nursing care in a professional, safe and compassionate manner as a member of the Medical Ward healthcare team according to education and competence.

Requirements

- A Certificate III relevant to the clinical area is highly regarded.
- Role requires shift work covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Appointees must be able to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
