The Commercial Strategy Analyst will play a key role in supporting the strategic growth and commercial success of Dabble's global online sports betting business operating in Australia, the USA and the UK. This position requires a commercially-minded person with a strong interest in the gaming and entertainment industry, analytical skills, curiosity about market dynamics, and the ability to collate a broad range of industry data and information into actionable insights. The role will directly support commercial negotiations, licensing efforts, regulatory submissions, and commercial decision-making by delivering robust market research, customer analysis, industry benchmarking, and growth forecasting.
Primary Location
This role is currently open to all locations within Australia; candidates based in Melbourne may be preferred.
Are you a Dabbler?
A Dabbler's attitude is paramount, as the right person will be able to learn quickly and adapt to any skill gaps. A Dabbler is always a team player, with a willingness to share with and learn from others. Being a remote-first workplace, collaborative working styles are crucial to empower and grow each individual member (e.g., we prefer openness via public channels to problem solve or ideate on Slack).
A Dabbler uses their freedom of autonomy to its absolute potential and enjoys contributing to the Dabble community. We hold respect for our peers very highly – there is no such thing as a bad idea. We encourage you to think differently, be brave and strive to always raise the bar. Dabble was born out of thought sharing and should tackle growth in the same way. Dabble embraces empowerment of all people at any level of seniority and experience to 'own their work' and 'talk their book' wherever they can.
A fulfilling life extends beyond work, and we encourage our employees to prioritise self-care and well-being. This means taking breaks when needed, setting boundaries, and seeking support when facing challenges. We are committed to creating a safe environment where individuals feel comfortable discussing their wellbeing and accessing resources when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on betting markets, consumer behavior, and industry activity across "home markets" (Australia, USA, UK) and expansion targets.
- Develop models and frameworks to analyse market trends and project revenue growth opportunities.
- Assist in providing analysis and assessment on new business development opportunities (including M&A).
- Support new product development and market entry initiatives through feasibility studies and market-fit analysis.
- Review and summarise industry publications, key bulletins, analyst reports and economic data relevant to sports betting, daily fantasy sports and iGaming.
- Assist in compiling evidence and research for license applications and regulatory submissions.
- Provide analytical support to the broader commercial team, including performance dashboards, KPI tracking and ROI analyses.
- Assist in review and negotiation of key commercial contracts, including reviewing supplier performance, contract renewals, service levels and costs analysis.
- Contribute to scenario planning, business casing, and go-to-market strategies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, law, data analytics, finance and accounting or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex data into short commercial insights
- Strong research and data collating capabilities with demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with the online sports betting or gaming industries and their commercial frameworks
- Proficiency in data storage and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Quicksight, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred
- Experience working in a regulated industry or contributing to licensing submissions
- Understanding of global wagering markets, especially in Australia, the USA, and/or the UK
