Overview

We are seeking to establish a pool of Health and Physical Education teachers for permanent and fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Perth Modern School is Western Australia’s only fully selective school for academically gifted students in Years 7 to 12. The school honours rich traditions, empowers students and shapes the future for gifted and talented learners and leaders.

Teaching is underpinned by purposeful differentiation, curriculum telescoping, compacting and enrichment so that gifted and high‑potential students receive advanced and rigorous learning while also engaging in recreational sports that support their social and emotional wellbeing.

The Role

The successful applicant will join a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers implementing a whole‑school gifted and talented approach. Responsibilities include:

- Planning, delivering and assessing engaging, high‑quality Health and Physical Education lessons that challenge academically gifted students.

- Designing differentiations and enrichment activities, including competitions, camps and clubs that may require participation beyond the school day.

- Contributing to advocacy, positive education and careers programs that support the unique talents and needs of gifted students.

- Collaborating with colleagues to embed the gifted and talented approach across learning areas.

- Participating in professional development and continuous improvement activities.

Eligibility

- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.

- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a relevant visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
