Overview

Churches of Christ in Queensland is seeking a dedicated and strategically minded individual to join its Board as a Director – People & Culture. This governance role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the leadership and mission of a respected Christian organisation committed to community service and spiritual care.

As a Board Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring effective governance, and supporting the performance and development of the CEO. You will contribute to the formulation and oversight of strategic plans, business operations, and organisational policies, with a particular focus on people and culture.

Role Responsibilities

- Effective governance of Churches of Christ in Queensland;
- Involvement in formulating strategic directions and the approval of strategic plans;
- Recruitment and managing performance of the CEO;
- Reviewing, approving and monitoring the business plan and annual budget;
- Contributing to the development of Board and organisational policies;
- Supporting stakeholder engagement and networking on behalf of Churches of Christ in QLD;
- Identifying skills required by the Board and potential candidates for Board positions.

Role Requirements

- The role requires attending approximately 11 Board meetings, and other special meetings as may be called, and serving on at least one Board committee per year
- All Directors are required to do the associated preparation ahead of Board and Committee meetings including reading papers to allow informed and active contribution at meetings
- All Directors are expected to participate in relevant learning and development
- Some travel is anticipated.
- The role may require attendance in monthly conference calls for management, financial reporting and general compliance issues.
- There will be 2 residentials [1-2-nights, 2 days] Board site visits & strategy meetings annually.

Director Remuneration

- Churches of Christ in Queensland Directors are remunerated to support the Board to attract and retain the services of a suitable number of appropriately qualified directors and committee members.
- The Base fee includes expected involvement in a minimum of one committee.
- Remuneration will be discussed with successful applicants on appointment.
