About the Role

We are seeking two passionate and suitably qualified Special Needs Education Assistants to join our dedicated team at the Halls Head Primary campus. A Certificate IV in Education Support is preferred. These fixed‑term, full‑time positions are for Semester 1, 2026. Special Needs Education Assistant

Special Needs Assistants carry out duties as directed by the Head of Primary and work under the guidance of the Learning Enrichment Coordinator and/or classroom teacher as designated by the Head of Primary. They meet the special needs of the students in their care and assist in delivering relevant educational programmes.

- Develop resources, visual schedules, etc. to support student learning.

- Implement strategies that promote independent work habits.

- Undertake professional learning related to the student’s disability to broaden personal knowledge and insight.

- Keep observation records to assist the classroom teacher in programming and assessment.

- Maintain a communication diary with parents/caregivers overseen by the classroom teacher.

- Contribute to Individual Education Plan Meetings to plan and evaluate learning goals.

- Be abreast of current technologies and assist students in using them for learning.

- Under guidance liaise and plan with outside providers to assist in the student’s development.

- Supervise small group and individual activities under the Teacher‑in‑Charge.

- Assist children in developing independent skills in self‑organisation (e.g., dressing, toileting, eating, preparing for class and daily routines).

Pastoral Care

As an Anglican school, pastoral care is extremely important. This role involves supervision and welfare of students while at school. The school is committed to child safety and protection, expecting all staff, volunteers, visitors, and contractors to respect and abide by all policies, procedures, and practices developed by AngliSchools and the School.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Completion of an approved Education Assistant course (or equivalent).

- Current Working with Children Check.

- Current National Police Clearance.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
