Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, and manage comprehensive project plans that encompass all aspects of project delivery, including resource allocation and budget management to ensure objectives are met within agreed timeframes.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of projects by establishing effective risk management strategies, contingency planning, benefits realisation frameworks, impact assessments, and quality assurance measures.
- Provide regular, detailed reports to Project Directors and Executive Sponsors on project progress, highlighting developments, risks, budget status, forecasting needs, and achievement of milestones to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners through consultation and negotiation to facilitate successful delivery of project outcomes while maintaining open channels of communication.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and service providers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure ongoing satisfaction and support for legislative changes.
- Guide Queensland government agencies in understanding proposed legislative amendments by offering clear advice on new practices required for compliance under relevant Acts.
- Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives designed to foster collaboration and shared understanding among diverse groups affected by legislative reform.
- Coordinate statistical data collection processes necessary for mandatory reporting requirements under the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009.
- Support the development of robust processes that underpin accurate reporting on the operation of these Acts across multiple agencies.
- Champion best practices in project management by continuously reviewing procedures for improvement opportunities aligned with organisational goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience as a Project Manager overseeing complex projects within the public sector or similar environments where legislative change is central to success.
- Proven track record in planning for and implementing reforms related to information rights or privacy legislation within tight deadlines.
- Relevant Project Management certification or qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or Agile PM demonstrating formal training in best practice methodologies.
- Exceptional ability to develop comprehensive project plans detailing deliverables, timelines, resource requirements (people/funding), stakeholder mapping, and engagement strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling you to build rapport quickly with diverse stakeholders while maintaining productive working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Demonstrated capability in risk identification/mitigation; benefits realisation; impact assessment; quality assurance; budget tracking; forecasting; milestone monitoring; issue resolution.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills allowing you to prepare clear reports/presentations tailored for executive audiences as well as operational teams.
- Experience guiding government agencies or large organisations through significant process changes driven by new legislation or regulatory requirements.
- A collaborative approach that fosters teamwork while respecting differing perspectives among colleagues/partners involved in reform initiatives.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards around information privacy/confidentiality when handling sensitive data during statutory reporting processes.
