What is the job opportunity?
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer with experience in pipeline construction projects who is interested in transitioning into a career as an Estimator in our Pre-contracts team. This role will be based in our Brisbane CBD office.
Spiecapag will provide comprehensive training to the successful candidate, enabling them to work effectively within Spiecapag systems. The goal is to develop the role into that of a Senior Estimator in the longer term and broaden your capabilities in whole lifecycle construction project management.
You will contribute to a range of major civil infrastructure projects across Australia and Asia Pacific. Your role will include:
- Conducting tendering estimation for engineering works, e.g. BOQ (Bill of Quantity) take-offs
- Generating and evaluating cost estimates and budgets for strategic construction tenders
- Analysing construction contracts and identifying potential risks and opportunities for cost savings
- Collation of bid/tender submission documents
- Preparation and management of draft project execution schedules, including tracking progress and identifying potential delays
- Perform supplier, sub-contractor and material enquiries and conduct evaluation analysis and reporting
- Establish and maintain effective stakeholder working relationships with prospective clients, vendors, JV partners, and sub-contractors
- Prepare reports and present findings to project stakeholders, including executive management and clients
About you?
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications/ experience and capabilities:
- Bachelor of Engineering / Quantity Surveying or related
- 4-6 years of practical experience as a Site or Project Engineer on pipeline construction projects providing an understanding scope of work to bid. Strong constructability awareness
- Good understanding of pipeline construction contracts
- Ability to build working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to generate interest, capacity and pricing
- Strong awareness of risk management processes within construction projects
- Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
