Secondary Mathematics/Science Teacher

Southern Hills Christian College is a K-12 Christian school in Bedfordale, Western Australia, and is part of the Swan Christian Education Association. Our staff are all committed Christians, and this belief is embedded both explicitly and implicitly in our curriculum and all that we do.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Mathematics/Science Teacher to join ourSecondary School team in an ongoing,full-time position commencing on the 1 st January 2026. The successful candidate will teach both mathematics and science, uphold the College’s Christian values, actively engage in all areas of College life, support diverse student learning needs, and pursue ongoing professional growth.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- To be competent and qualified for teaching Secondary.

- To develop an understanding of the biblical basis for Christian Education and the College’s values, aims and practices within the history of the Swan Christian Education Association.

- To demonstrate an active, cooperative and enthusiastic involvement within the spiritual, academic, sporting, cultural and social dimensions of College life.

- To be a supportive team member of the College’s teaching fraternity.

- To remain current and abreast of changes in their field and be committed to continuing personal and professional development.

- Demonstrate sensitivity to varying student abilities and take responsibility for both teaching and student learning.

- To follow College policy on all matters.

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, active involvement in a Christian church, and a lifestyle consistent with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Beliefs.

- Meet educational requirements set by the WA Department of Education for teaching Primary, and show subject competence through portfolios, workbooks, or teaching notes.

- Show a clear understanding of assessment, evaluation, and the use of varied formative and summative procedures.

- Use a range of teaching and learning strategies to meet students’ needs and course objectives effectively.

- Work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.

- Be competent in computer use, act as a positive role model, build quality relationships, and be willing to engage in extra-curricular activities.

- Encourage curriculum and assessment that reflects servantheartedness, Biblical truths with positive impacts, through sustainability for all God has created.

Desirable

- To have undertaken formal studies in the area of Christian Education, attend a Christian College or be familiar with relevant books and articles on Christian Education.

- To have experience in the advertised position.

- To have experience in using a digital learning management system as a teaching and learning tool.
