The Role

Gilmore College is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Health and Physical Education (HPE) teacher to join our dynamic and dedicated team. The successful applicant should display excellence in teaching and learning, a commitment to evidence‑based practice, and the ability to inspire students to achieve their best. Applicants who can apply the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact strategy, using evidence‑based practices to maximise student engagement and achievement in HPE and General Capabilities, will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

- Work with the Head of Learning Area and the HPE team to lead strategies and initiatives that drive improvement in student engagement, classroom teaching, and student performance across Years 7‑12.

- Actively participate in ongoing professional learning and reflect on teaching practice to enhance student engagement and maintain a culture of high‑quality teaching.

- Collaborate with staff, students, parents and the wider community to promote physical health and well‑being.

- Plan, deliver and assess HPE lessons for Years 7‑12 using evidence‑based practice and the Teacher’s Teaching for Impact strategy.

- Provide personalised support for students to achieve their full potential, including differentiation and inclusion.

- Plan and lead camps, expeditions and outdoor education activities when appropriate.

- Maintain up‑to‑date HPE lessons and student records in the school’s learning management system.

- Participate in the wider education community through engagements such as conferences and professional networks.

Qualifications and Experience

- Hold a relevant teaching qualification and registration.

- Graduate teacher or may have at least 5 years teaching experience.

- Experience teaching HPE for Years 7‑12 and general capabilities.

- Experience planning and leading camps and expeditions is desirable.

- Qualifications in Outdoor Education, First Aid, Community Surf Rescue and Bus Licence are highly desirable.

- Experience teaching ATAR Physical Education Studies and/or Health Studies is well regarded.

- Strong evidence‑based writing and assessment skills.
