A fulltime Seed Field Operations Officer position is available with a commercial seed producer based in Toowoomba in Southern Queensland. The business grows cereal, oil seed and forage crops under a quality management system to achieve commercial seed breeding and product development goals.

You will assist the Field Services team to plan, coordinate and arrange machinery operations to meet demand across different business areas. On-site, your duties include calibrate, set up and operate tractor with specialised cultivator and precision planters to ensure nurseries, trials, grow-outs, and demonstration plots are prepared and planted during optimal windows. Additionally, you will set up and operate trailing sprayer, lay trickle tape irrigation, organise seed harvest, delivery and drying, transport machinery, equipment, and parent seed between locations, perform regular machinery and general site maintenance, and reporting.

The position suits a well organised, flexible, and adaptable worker with in-depth crop, pest and disease knowledge, keen observation and effective communications skills who likes to take ownership of their work and will enjoy the challenge of growing crops in various, often non-traditional South-East Queensland locations with the aim of continuous improvement whilst meeting company goals.

Precision GPS Ag machinery, mechanical maintenance skills and a minimum automatic HR truck licence are necessary, with qualifications in Agronomy, a chemical certificate and a Forklift licence preferred but not essential. You’ll also need a current driver’s licence and own vehicle to travel to the Toowoomba office with transport, accommodation and all meals provided when you and the team are working away.

SKILLS & QUALITIES

- Minimum 3 years in a similar position

- Demonstrates previous GPS precision Ag machinery experience

- Cereal, oil seed, forage crop, pest, and disease knowledge

- Experience in hybrid seed production; farm research or agronomic trial programs preferred

- Mechanical and general farm maintenance skills

- Complies with Health, Safety and Environmental policies

- Adheres to and Quality Management System requirements

- Follows Safety, Quality and workplace procedures and instructions

- Strong initiative with effective communication and team working

- Basic electronic record keeping skills

- Honest, diplomatic, open-minded, neat, tidy, and organised
