Overview Position Title: Medical Director Infection Control Location: Murdoch – Fiona Stanley Hospital, 783-bed tertiary hospital within South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS). Salary: AMA Level $210,327 – $309,682 per annum pro rata; + other allowances. Work Type: Fixed Term - Part Time (0.5 FTE) for 5 years with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. This is a mission-critical appointment at the intersection of clinical governance, epidemiology, and executive leadership. The Medical Director of Infection Control will spearhead the infection prevention strategy across a dynamic, high-acuity healthcare environment and shape policy, drive innovation, and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve infection control excellence. Responsibilities - Provide strategic leadership, expertise, and education in all aspects of Infection Prevention & Management within FSFHG and SMHS. - Initiate, design, implement, and monitor strategies to reduce hospital-acquired infections. - Play a leading role in preparing for and managing outbreaks. - Ensure hospitals meet the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards. - Lead provision of specialist medical services to patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. - Actively address clinical risks and delays in patient care; educate and supervise junior medical staff and other health workers. Requirements and Experience - Experience as a strategic leader in infection prevention and control within a complex health service. - Strong governance, epidemiology knowledge, and ability to work across clinical and executive levels. - Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive policy and program development. Context and Organisation Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of services including rehabilitation, cancer care, maternity, paediatrics and neonatal care, and specialised services such as heart and lung transplantation and hyperbaric medicine.
