As a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality clinical education to medical students. You will have the opportunity to teach, mentor, and engage in curriculum development within a prestigious academic setting. This role offers a unique chance to enhance your skills as a medical educator while contributing to the academic objectives of the Melbourne Medical School.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Deliver High-Quality Clinical Education: Conduct teaching sessions, including bedside coaching, case-based discussions, and simulation sessions.

- Engage in Curriculum Development: Participate in the design and enhancement of the Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health program.

- Contribute to Assessment and Evaluation: Prepare and mark examinations, assess student performance, and act as an examiner.

- Participate in Professional Development: Engage in academic development activities and professional development programs to promote excellence in clinical teaching.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced medical professional with a passion for teaching and mentoring in women’s health, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to educational excellence.

You may also:

- Be registered or eligible for medical registration in Australia.

- Be an advanced trainee or Fellow in obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, or a related field.

- Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality clinical teaching.

- Possess strong team skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators and students.

- Have highly developed interpersonal skills to interact positively with colleagues, staff, and students.

Your new team - Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is responsible for teaching Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Paediatrics, to MD medical students. Currently, each year approximately 350 medical students spend 6 weeks (across 6 rotations) attached to the Department during the third year of their medical course. In addition, there are graduate research students pursuing full-time or part-time research through the Department. These include Honours, Master of Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy students. In Quarter 3 of 2021, there were approximately 30 graduate research students enrolled in the Department undertaking their PhD, including 5 under examination.
